Prowling

These sculptures emerge from my new studio series, a collection born from the quiet companionship of my two cats, Frankie and Judy. Their daily presence, their elegance, and their playful mystery became the spark that moved me to translate their spirit into form.

Living in Palm Springs, a place where mid century modern design still hums through the architecture and the desert light, I felt called to create pieces that echo that lineage while honoring the soulful grace of these animals in the home. Each cat is cut from transparent acrylic approximately 9.5 mm thick, then painted on the reverse side to allow the color to glow from within.

Two silhouettes are joined with a simple screw and nut, creating a subtle depth that lets the figures stand freely without a base. This gives them a poised, almost serene presence, as if they were quietly perched on a console or shelf, watching the room with that familiar feline awareness.

Light plays an essential role in their personality. As it passes through the acrylic, it casts soft, whimsical reflections that shift throughout the day, reminding us of the bright, mischievous energy that cats carry wherever they go.

These sculptures are original works, part of a limited production, each marked with my signature and seal of authenticity on the back. A portion of the proceeds supports the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, helping provide care and nourishment for cats throughout the valley. In this way, the sculptures not only celebrate the beauty of Frankie and Judy, but also extend their spirit into the wider community.
