Are you an artist inspired by cats?

The Society of Feline Artists brings together artists who share a passion for depicting cats in all their wonderful variety, from much-loved domestic companions to wild cats.

There are several ways to get involved with S.O.F.A. You can enter one of our Open Call exhibitions, which are open to non-members, or join the Society as a member and become more involved in our exhibitions and activities.

Exhibit With Us

S.O.F.A. exhibitions are a chance to show your work alongside other artists who share a passion for feline art, and to reach an audience of cat lovers, collectors and fellow artists.

S.O.F.A. holds both Members’ Exhibitions and Open Call Exhibitions.

We hold exhibitions both in the UK and online, showcasing feline art in a wide range of styles and media, from domestic cats to wild cats.

If you’re new to S.O.F.A., an open exhibition can be a great way to introduce your work to the Society and our audience.

Check our current exhibitions and open calls for details of who can enter, deadlines and entry requirements.

We’re also always interested in hearing about potential exhibition venues. If you know of a gallery or space that could be a good fit, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Who Can Exhibit?

We welcome feline artists from the UK and around the world. Our Open Call exhibitions are open to non-members as well as S.O.F.A. members.

Online exhibitions: Take place in our virtual gallery on our website. UK and International artists are welcome. If a work sells, the artist ships it directly from their own studio to the buyer.

Physical exhibitions: Work must be delivered to the gallery and collected again at the end of the show. International artists are very welcome to enter, although you will need to arrange someone in the UK to deliver and collect your work. Many of our international artists use friends or family to do this for them.

What Kind of Work Do We Accept?

We welcome original feline art in a wide range of media, including:

  • Oil
  • Acrylic
  • Pastel
  • Coloured pencil
  • Charcoal
  • Watercolour
  • Gouache
  • Mixed media
  • Original prints
  • Sculpture

Each exhibition may have its own rules about size, presentation and the number of works that can be submitted.

Selection

Full Members do not go through selection.

Associate Members submit work for consideration by the S.O.F.A. Selection Committee. In Open Call exhibitions, work submitted by non-members also goes through selection.

Exhibition Fees

S.O.F.A. does not charge an entry fee to submit work for consideration.

Instead, we charge a hanging fee only if your work is accepted for the exhibition. This means you do not pay simply to enter and risk losing the fee if your work is not selected.

Hanging fees vary depending on the exhibition and will always be clearly stated in the exhibition details. They help towards the costs of putting on the exhibition, including venue or hosting costs, promotion, advertising and administration.
