Autumn In The Garden

This ginger cat enjoys keeping an eye on proceedings while soaking up the autumn rays. At once, vigilant and relaxed, he loves to watch his humans - hidden in plain sight. Whilst working on this painting I came into contact with a gorgeous ginger tom called Jimmie whose character seems to have worked itself into the painting. Alert yet restful, content yet continually on some kind of a quest. The ambiguity of a cat - who likes to nap - and watch.

A watercolour painting by Sarah Wheeler.
