Spring Garden portrays three cats lounging amid a spring garden alive with flowers, fluttering birds, and busy bees. A calico in the foreground and two companions—an amber tabby and a slate-gray cat with a white chest—rest among swathes of pinks, purples, oranges, and white blossoms beneath flowering trees. Delicate brushwork and layered color give the scene gentle depth and a calm, natural rhythm.
