History

Ivy Settles In by Avril Sleeman S.O.F.A.

The inaugural meeting of the Society of Feline Artists was held on the 25th September 1994 at the Post House in Leicester, where a small and enthusiastic group of artists met together to discuss the form the Society should take. The aims of the Society were set out as follows:-

  • To provide encouragement and fellowship between feline artists. To promote excellence in and appreciation of feline art in its forms
  • and to actively aid growth to this aim wherever possible.

The society had an annual exhibition of cat paintings in London for over 25 years until the Llewellyn Alexander closed. Since 2019 the Society has held its own exhibitions in the UK and in its online gallery.
